“Purpose Tool”: Discover Your Missional Purpose

The “Purpose Tool '' is a simple tool to help you more fully discover your unique identity, contribution, and missional purpose in God’s Kingdom and intentional practices to walk in it.
Contribution - What you carry as a unique gift to the world
Personal Identity & Story - What has God healed and redeemed in your life that you want to give away to others? How would you describe who you are and what you carry in a few creative words or phrases?
Personality & Gifting - What have you discovered about the personality, strengths and giftings God has given you? What would those close to you say are your natural and spiritual giftings? How have you seen those giftings bless and love other people?
Prophecy - What has God spoken into your life about your purpose in the world? Is there a scripture that describes or summarizes your contribution?
Primary Values - When thinking about your purpose in the world, what are a few words you would use to describe your primary values? Is there one or two words that are overarching values from this list?
Cause - What you care about deeply
Pain- What is the pain in the world around you (church, city, community) that breaks your heart and compels you to action?
Problem- Is there a problem in society that you want to see solved?
People & Place- Is there a people group or a specific place you are drawn to in love and compassion?
Co-Creating- What can be created with God and others
Picture of the World- When you picture the world made whole and set right, describe what your imagination is drawn to? If you and the Lord work together towards addressing your cause, what do you imagine happening?
Passion- What would you give your life for/suffer for to see come true this side of Heaven? If you had all the time and resources, what would you want to dedicate your life to?
Participation- Do you feel you are already fully engaged in your missional purpose? Is there a ministry or organization you are already involved with? If not, what is one practical step you can take to start living it out? If so, is there anything you're lacking that could help you increase your effectiveness?
